COVID19: I am still working and am still taking new clients - I am currently offering sessions by video conferencing or telephone, with payment by bank transfer.
For video calls I'm using Zoom, Skype or a simple to use platform called Doxy.Me, which just requires you to click on a link to my online 'waiting room'.
Update September 2020: Due to the current increase in COVID infection rates and to continue to protect clients, myself & the wider public, I'm not yet resuming in-person work but continuing to work via video call or phone.
I'm not currently offering couple counselling.
I've worked in private practice as a counsellor and therapist, in the Scarborough area, for 18 years. I have many years experience of providing brief focal counselling and psychotherapy for several Scarborough and Yorkshire based organisations and nationally based Employee Assistance Programmes, and of working with trainee counsellors and psychotherapists.
I have also worked as a counsellor for an IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service, working with clients referred by the NHS.
I work with individuals and couples, providing both short term counselling, and longer term, open ended psychotherapy. Whatever brings you for counselling or psychotherapy, I'll work with you towards a better understanding of yourself and your needs, your options and your own resources, to enhance your capacity to live in a way which is satisfying for you.
I'm empathic and approachable, and offer you, in your therapy sessions, the time, space and support to explore yourself and your life - to help you to move on from old experiences and difficulties, and develop new perspectives and coping skills.
I work with a wide range of issues including:
